Kimon Christodoulides is a digital artist and musician living and working in London. His background is in illustration and art direction. Most of his day-to-day work is CG content for advertising. He composes and records music to keep himself sane.
Making films for him, is a way to integrate different influences and aptitudes in a way, which is often difficult within a commerican environment. He is interested in themes of deformation, alienation and sexual affliction played out by archetypal, tragic characters. At the same time, he is very influenced by the French tradition of lowbrow anarchic comic artists like Edika or Reiser. He likes to combine these directions to arrive at a kind of ludicrous, kitschy bathos in his storytelling.
Which bring up to his music. Writing songs is a way for him to track down the unifying elements of middle eastern and mediterranean music, such as darboukas, maqams, and odd rhythms, and package them in an irreverent pop aesthetic. He is not entirely sure why he does it, but he enjoys his craft.
